An A.M.E License is an authority issued by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India, to maintain & certify the fitness of the civil aircraft prior to each flight. After obtaining this license, an AME certifies the fitness of an aircraft. No aircraft can fly without the fitness clearance certificate released by an AME.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is the Indian governmental regulatory body for civil aviation under the ministry of civil aviation. It’s role in the field of AME license is to provide Licenses for maintenance of aircrafts/engines/components under the provision of Rule 61 of the Aircrafts Rules, 1937.

Though it is an engineering programme, the AME license course does not require approvals from the AICTE. Licenses are issued by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India. DGCA coordinates all regulatory functions with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). To become an AME, one has to undergo training from a DGCA approved institute and then clear DGCA Module exams.

To make a career as an AME one needs to have passed at least 10+2 / Intermediate, with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics ,or its equivalent degree from any recognized board / university. Even diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Aeronautical stream can also apply The applicants appearing in these exams can also apply. The admission to the course is subject to fulfilling the above eligibility criteria.

Yes, Bank at its discretion give the loan provided the students produce all the required documents to bank including admission letter, institute’s approval letter, validity sheet, scope of approval. Students below poverty line may approach to the welfare department also in their corresponding state for study loan. IIA Group helps students in procuring these loans from the banks.

The AME training courses are designed to give students a comprehensive knowledge of the aircrafts, their systems and good maintenance practices to equip the students to become skilled and competent aircraft maintenance professionals. The syllabus covers knowledge of Indian Aircraft Rules, Civil Aviation Requirements, theoretical and practical training, technical knowledge of design, construction, maintenance and operation of aircraft, engines, systems and aircraft materials used in the construction of airframes, engines and accessories; knowledge of engineering practices and skill in the use of various equipment; knowledge of good maintenance practices, human factors and human performance, necessary judgment and competence required to assess the airworthiness of aircraft and its equipment etc.

The sector is promising and placements are never a problem after successful completion of such courses. Aviation is the fastest growing industry in India in comparison to other sectors. Sources report that Indian carriers have ordered nearly 500 aircrafts which will be delivered over in near future. As per industry standards, 30 maintenance personnel are required per aircraft. After allowing foreign investments in Indian Aviation Industry, international players are positively looking Indian market. A lot of things are already happening in Indian Aviation with Jet-Etihad deal, Tata-Singapore collaboration, and Tata-Airasia JV creating more jobs in near future. Udaan Scheme has been introduced because of this scheme due to which regional connectivity increased.

Although this course is only for civil aviation industry but, BSF also recruited those students who had completed AME Course training.
